CDC seeks vendor to help with guides for electronic reporting of HAIs

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is developing a set of guides to help system vendors deploy a standard for electronically reporting incidents of healthcare-associated infections to the agency’s National Healthcare Safety Network, according to Government Health IT.

The article states that the CDC is seeking a healthcare IT vendor to assist with the guides. As of June, 24 states have requirements calling for hospitals to report health care-associated infection data to a state agency using NHSN. About 3,000 health care providers currently participate in the safety network and more are expected to join
