NY Times article on Intermountain Healthcare, and roots of quality and variance in medicine
An article in the New York Times highlighted the work by Brent James of Intermountain Healthcare in promoting national healthcare quality improvement.
The article discusses various aspects of the fee for service reimbursement and its negative impact on quality, variation in care delivery, some of the cultural roadblocks to quality improvement, and the educational work of Intermountain in using the scientific method, statistical and management theory.
